The Chilliwack Chiefs and the Prince George Spruce Kings battled right to the bitter end on Sunday with the hosts edging the BCHL’s most northern franchise 4-3 in an eight round shootout.
Matt Holmes netted the game-winner past Prince George goalie Logan Neaton giving Chilliwack a two point lead over the Spruce Kings in the Mainland Division race.
Chilliwack blew a pair of leads throughout the contest (1-0 and 3-1) soiling the early offensive contributions from Harrison Blaisdell, Carter Wilkie and Nathan Kelly.
Ben Brar notched his 26th of the season in the second period from Dustin Manz and Patrick Cozzi to give the visitors a puncher’s chance in the third.
Chong Min Lee and Nick Poisson would eventually come through for the Spruce Kings scoring both unanswered goals sending the game to overtime.
Another road trip awaits the Spruce Kings next weekend with stops in Vernon, Penticton and West Kelowna.
