Maks Perčič scored the Overtime winner and Ryder Green made 40 saves for his first BCHL victory as the Spruce Kings knocked off the Chilliwack Chiefs 3-2 on Saturday night.
Once again the Spruce Kings got off on the right foot with an early goal as Cooper Williams was sent in on a breakaway from Carter Hesselgrave and Brogan McNeil. As Williams was taken down, he tucked the puck into the goal before crashing into the net knocking it off. After video review, the call was confirmed.
The remainder of the first period belonged to Green, as he finished the frame with 20 saves, including a couple big pad saves late in the period.
It was a scoreless middle frame that was more even on the shot clock favouring Chilliwack 9-5, for an overall total of 29-12 after 40 minutes.
The Chiefs got on the board at 4:22 as Mateo Mrsic poked one through Green on a scrambled play in front.
The Chiefs took the lead moments later as Nathan Morin put one into the cage off a net drive from Caleb Elfering. The goal was reviewed for potential goaltender interference, but the call was confirmed.
With just under five minutes to go in the 3rd period, Brogan McNeil sent Vital Dinis on a break with a rink wide pass and Dinis slipped it five-hole to tie the game.
In the extra frame, Skogen Schrott drove the puck to the net, and after being taken down, the puck drifted back to the point and Maks Perčič snapped one home to give the Spruce Kings the win. The call was confirmed after video review.
