PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Spruce Kings are excited to announce the acquisition of 2004-born Scott Cousins from the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League.

“We’re excited to add Scott to our group,” said Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes.

“Most importantly, he’s a great person from a great family. He’s also a skilled hard-working player that will fit in with our hard-working group of forwards.”

The Prince George product played 52 games with the Rockets over three seasons (2020-2022). During that time, Cousins tallied four goals and eight assists (12 points) and posted six penalty minutes and a +/- rating of +6.

Cousins was named the BCEHL U17 Player of the Year during the 2019-2020 season as a member of the Cariboo Cougars U17 team. That season, Cousins scored 28 goals and 29 assists (57 points) in 28 games. His performance that season was what led to him catching the eye of the Rockets, eventually signing him ahead of the 2021 WHL BC Division Hub Season.

The Spruce Kings are in Chilliwack this week for a pair of games at the 2022 BCHL Showcase. They’ll face the Coquitlam Express on Wednesday at 2:30 PM and the Surrey Eagles on Thursday at 4:00 PM.
