Spruce Kings add Veilleux, Trade Wegner to Merritt

PRINCE GEORGE- The Prince George Spruce Kings made two roster moves late Wednesday night.

The team is pleased to announce the addition of forward Lucas Veilleux (05). The 18-year-old from Ottawa, Ontario, is joining the Spruce Kings after starting the season with the Sherwood Park Crusaders of the AJHL.

Before this season, Veilleux spent two years with St. Andrew’s College of the CAHS. In 93 games with St. Andrew’s, the Ottawa native scored 31 goals and 79 points.

“Lucas is a young player with good size who plays the game hard,” said General Manager Mike Hawes. “He has good offensive abilities and will contribute in all facets of the game. We have followed Lucas closely for the past couple of seasons. We are thrilled that he’s joining us.”

Veilleux comes to Prince George standing at 6’0″ and 181 lbs. He is also committed to playing NCAA Division 1 hockey at Colgate University.

Welcome to Prince George Lucas!

In another move, the Prince George Spruce Kings have traded forward Dylan Wegner (04) to the Merritt Centennials in exchange for future considerations.

Wegner, from Nashville, Tennessee, played two games with the Spruce Kings this season and had yet to record a point.

The Spruce Kings wish Dylan much success with his new team.
