PRINCE GEORGE- After winning Friday night, the Prince George Spruce Kings couldn’t repeat their efforts in game two of the weekend against the West Kelowna Warriors.

The Spruce Kings got on the board first Saturday night, while wearing their brand-new red jerseys. Zhenya Miles (’06) was called for hooking less than five minutes into the first period. On the ensuing power-play, Luca Primerano (’05) let a one-timer go that beat Warriors goalie, Rorke Applebee (’03), through the five-hole.

That would be all the scoring for the Spruce Kings this game.

Felix Caron (’04) tied the game at one as the first period expired. The Terrebonne, Quebec, native capitalized for his 11 goal of the season on the power-play.

Over the ensuing two periods, the Warriors would score three more times. Jackson Kyrkostas (’04), Callum Hughes (’06), and Landen Hilditch (’05) would find the back of the net.

Ryan Sanborn (’05) started for the Spruce Kings between the pipes. After being pulled in his last two starts, the goalie from Brookfield, Connecticut, turned away 28 of the 31 shots he saw thrown his way.

The other note from Saturday night was the actions of Linden Makow (’04). Just over the halfway mark of the second period, Makow dropped his gloves and threw his hands with Warriors defenceman, Trey Ausmus (’04). Both players were given five-minute majors for fighting, also receiving 10-minute misconducts.

The final score Saturday from Kopar Memorial Arena was Spruce Kings one, Warriors four.
