PRINCE GEORGE- The Prince George Spruce Kings will honour the late Mike Church this season every time the team steps onto the ice.
A helmet sticker with the initials MC has been placed on every Spruce King helmet for the 2023-24 season.
Mike Church passed away on April 11, 2023. While his impact extends far beyond Prince George, his legacy will live on here in town in the building of Aberdeen Glen Golf Course and Estates.
Mike and his family have supported the Spruce Kings and our Show Home Lottery for well over a decade, with many of the houses built in the Aberdeen Estates neighbourhood.
“Mike Church and the Aberdeen family have been huge supporters of the Spruce Kings behind the scenes,” said David Keough, the president of the Prince George Spruce Kings. “We wanted to honour Mike in a small way to show our appreciation for what he has done for our organization and the City of Prince George.”
The Spruce Kings will unveil the new stickers on Saturday, September 23, 2023, against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
